Director: Jennifer K. Smith, M.Ed
Jennifer Smith has been dancing since age 3 and has been an instructor for 18 years. She has been the Director of Dance Expressions for 11 years. She was a member of the Houston Oilers Dancers, the University of Houston Cougar Dolls and an officer for the Pearland High School Prancers. Jennifer has a Bachelor's degree in Dance and Health and a Master's degree in Education. She is an adjunct professor at University of Houston. She carefully creates classes that are age appropriate and developmental, meets regularly with staff for training and makes herself available to parents and students for personal attention.
Instructors: DE has 15 teachers that specialize in the discipline and age group that they teach. Many have degrees in dance and all do continuing education and training. Several Master Level teachers are on our regular staff.
Philosophy: “Our jobs are to help enrich our students life’s not only as dancers, but as people. We see these kids for years, and so while we are preparing them for any goal they have in dance, we also work on life skills like teamwork, goal setting, and self esteem.” – Jennifer Smith
Program Description: Classes at Dance Expressions are designed to provide a step-by-step syllabus for development, in accordance with the student's physical, mental and emotional growth. Advancement through the curriculum is related more to the student's progress than to age. Every dancer's body is different, and as they understand their own physical limitations and potential, they will gain confidence, stamina, and self-expression. It is the policy of the studio to provide the highest standards of correct training while maintaining a fun environment. Every effort is made to develop the individual talents of each student.
Spacious Studios: The Friendswood location has three large studios within a 5200 foot facility. All studios have padded wood flooring with marley covering, and viewing areas for parents. The large lobby and dressing room is family friendly.
Secret of Our Success: Parents, students and staff all work together in a family oriented and fun atmosphere to make the studio a great place to be and work. Personal attention, teamwork, and lack of egos help everyone reach their dance goals.
